This Privacy Policy explains how UsedStuff.net (“UsedStuff.net,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information about members of this invite-only, New Hampshire–based local classifieds community.

Who We Are

UsedStuff.net is a private, invite-only classifieds platform that helps local members connect for face-to-face buying and selling of used items. Access requires an invitation; we are not open to the general public.

Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Name (first and last)
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Mailing address (street address, city, state, ZIP; apartment/unit and country are optional)
  • Password (stored securely; we cannot see your plaintext password)
  • Invite code (used internally so we know what community you are a member of). This is not shared or displayed publicly.
  • Referrer (who told you about UsedStuff.net — e.g., the member or individual that invited you). This is used internally to understand how members are finding the community and is not shared or displayed publicly.

When you post a listing, we collect the item details you choose to provide (description, price, photos, category, condition, etc.).

How Your Information Is Used and Displayed

UsedStuff.net exists to connect local buyers and sellers so you can complete transactions in person. To make that connection possible:

  • Your listings display your full name and email address to other members, so an interested buyer can reach you directly.
  • Your phone number is never displayed publicly. It is stored on your account but is not shown on listings, your profile, or anywhere else on the site.
  • Your mailing address, city/state/ZIP, and invite code are never displayed publicly — they are used only for internal account and site-administration purposes.

Cookies and Tracking

We do not run any analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking services (no Google Analytics, no ad pixels, nothing similar). The site may set basic functional cookies needed for core features to work — for example, keeping you logged in or securing forms against spam/tampering. These are standard to how the underlying site software operates and are not used to track you across other websites or to build an advertising profile.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any outside company, advertiser, or data broker. The site does not process payments, so no payment or financial information is collected or shared with any payment processor. The only routine “sharing” that happens is the intentional, visible connection described above: your name and email appear on your own listings so other members can contact you.

Your phone number and mailing address are collected for one additional reason beyond that day-to-day connection: if a dispute arises between members, or if a matter needs to involve law enforcement, we may use or disclose that information as necessary to help resolve the dispute, respond to a legitimate police inquiry or legal process, or protect the safety of our members and the community. Outside of these situations, your phone number and address remain private and are not shared with anyone.

Emails We Send

We send transactional emails only — for example, registration/invite confirmation, listing approval or rejection notices, and password reset messages. We do not currently send marketing or promotional emails, and we do not have plans to at this time. If that ever changes, we’ll update this policy first.

Age Requirement

UsedStuff.net is intended for adults 21 years of age or older. By registering, you confirm that you are at least 21. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21.

Data Retention and Your Choices

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you’d like your account and listings removed, contact us and we will delete your information, other than what we’re required to keep briefly for security or legal purposes.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, let members know.
